European banks will allow to withdraw cash from ATMs using a smartphone

Europe’s first banks plan to install new ATMs, developed by Wincor Nixdorf that allow users to withdraw cash using their smartphone. One German and one Swiss bank already announced the support of the project.
Smart ATMs from Wincor Nixdorf work with a mobile banking application that the client uses to select the account and the required amount. The application passes this information to the hosting system of the bank that sends the barcode back to the mobile phone.
